If you're ever walking on Morro Bay Boulevard in Morro Bay, California, there's a pretty good chance you'll hear Michael Jackson or another 80's bop coming from a small quirky thrift store called Threads. When you walk in you'll be met by some of the coolest hand picked items Morro Bay has to offer. My sister and I love Morro Bay, and Threads has always been one of our favorite thrift stores in the area. It's one of those places that just makes you feel happy. It's pretty much a throwback 80's dance party but with really cool vintage clothes.
Morro Bay is just a funky, chill place. The town is beautiful in and of itself, but it's the people that I love most about it. People from Morro Bay are the nicest, chillest, most genuine people you will ever meet. You will never convince me otherwise. A lot of artists live there as well as surfers and environmentalists, so it definitely has a very laid back, artsy vibe to it. It's quirky and fun, and the people there are just the same. Alexis, the owner of Threads, does not fall short. She is the essence of cool, funky, and sweet like a true Morro Bay native. I met Alexis on the first day of 2019 while home on winter break with my sister. We'd spent the day strolling through downtown Morro Bay and had to stop by our favorite thrift store. We were dancing along to "Man In The Mirror" when I saw Alexis, also singing and dancing, and I knew I had to ask for her picture. She was wearing a green-striped, long-sleeved shirt under a '60s, blue, floral dress. She paired the ensemble with bright blue tights and a vintage, chunky necklace and matching bracelet. She looked so cool, and she made it look easy. I went up to the counter and told her about my idea for this blog and asked if she could be my first post. She was so sweet and bubbly and agreed. We decided to head to the front of the store for a little photoshoot. I asked her what her favorite thing about fashion was and she said, "I would have to say self expression."
